Harvey Oaks Homeowners Association (HOHA) General Membership Meeting

Thursday, January 12, 2023-7:30 p.m. 

Sean O’Casey’s Pub-2523 South 140 Avenue-Omaha, NE 

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Corey Podwinski, President. 

Officers, Committee members, and Area Representatives present at the meeting were: Trent Bradshaw-Treasurer, John Brehmer-Guidelines/Area 17, Ashley Doherty-Webmaster, Carol Feelhaver-Secretary/Social/Nominating/Welcome, Luke Hawkins-Vice-President, Kevin Hughes-Advertising/Ball Fields, Ashley Podwinski-Social Media, Denny Schaeppi-Advertising/Social, and Traci Selby-Membership/Area 25.  

Committee Reports:

Treasurer’s Report-Trent Bradshaw gave the following report.  

  • Trent presented the financial statements through December 31, 2022.
  • Anyone interested in a copy of this report should contact Trent at trent_m_bradshaw@yahoo.com.

Membership Report-Traci Selby gave the following report.

  • There are 158 resident households that have joined HOHA for 2023.  This is out of 779 homes or approximately 20%.
  • A follow-up letter to all non-joining residents will be sent out via social media and e-mail.
  • Refrigerator magnets, with the dates of HOHA functions, will be distributed to all current members.  

Nominating ReportNo one was present to give a report.  

Parks ReportNo one was present to give a report.  

Newsletter Report-Warren Curry wasn’t present to give a report.

  • The deadline for the February/March issue of the newsletter is January 15.

Webpage/Social Media ReportAshley Doherty and Ashley Podwinski gave the following report.

  • E-mails will be going out regarding membership and the upcoming HOHA Golf Classic.  

Advertising Report-Denny Schaeppi gave the following report.

  • Denny is working on newsletter renewal and new ads.

Guidelines Issues-John Brehmer stated there was no report.  

Citizens Patrol ReportJoni Ternes wasn’t present to give a report. 

  • Volunteers are needed to be patrollers.  Anyone interested can contact Joni Ternes. (J_ternes1@yahoo.com)

Social Committee Report-The following report(s) were given.

  • The Spring Candy Hunt will be Saturday, April 15, 1:00 p.m. in the South park.
  • The Annual Neighborhood Garage Sale will be April 27, 28, & 29.  Contact Lacey Ruffino for more information.
  • The Annual HOHA Golf Classic will be Sunday, May 21, with a shot gun start at 8:00 a.m.

Ball field Committee-Kevin Hughes gave the following report.  

  • Spring baseball reservations for the practice ball diamond starts on February 1, 2023.

Old Business:

  • The Harvey Oaks Golf Classic will be held on May 21.  The planning committee has started working on the event.  If you are interested in serving on the committee contact Trent Bradshaw.  Trent_m_bradshaw@yahoo.com.   
  • Proceeds from the event will be used to continue renovations of the entrance islands.
  • Sponsorship levels for the Golf Classic are in the process of being developed.  The corporate and beverage cart sponsors have already been designated.  
  • There were eight homes that changed hands in Harvey Oaks during November & December.  

New Business:

  • Heartwood Preserve will be making announcements on the progress of the development soon.  Plans have already been submitted to the City of Omaha (City) for the pedestrian bridge over Pacific Street.  
  • The Annual Spring Clean-Up event will be held again in May.  HOHA is waiting for the City to assign a date.
  • New signs will be purchased for the ‘Yard of the Month’ program.  Approximately four homes are designated each month.  

Announcements:

  • Jeff Hicks, former HOHA President, has passed away in late December.  

As there was no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 8:35 p.m.  The next regular meeting is Thursday, February 9, 2023, 7:30 p.m. at Sean O’Casey’s Pub, 2523 South 140 Avenue, in the back party room. 

2023 HOHA Meeting Schedule-Second Thursday of each month-7:30 p.m.

March 9, April 13, May 11, June 8, July 13, August 10, September 14, October 12, November 9.  There is no December meeting.
