Harvey Oaks Homeowners Association (HOHA) General Membership Meeting
Thursday, October 8, 2020 7:30 p.m. Zoom Meeting-Omaha, NE
The meeting was called to order by Derek Menke, president.
Officers, Committee members, and Area Representatives present at the meeting were: Trent Bradshaw-Treasurer/Clean Up Day, Tom Davies-Area 8/Social, Carol Feelhaver-Secretary/Social/Nominating, Tim Glover-Nominating, Jim Grabenbauer-Parks, Kevin Hughes-Advertising/Ball diamond, Stacy Jolley-Area 23/Social/Membership, Randy Mohr-Membership, Corey Podwinski-Vice President, Denny Schaeppi-Social/Advertising, and Donna Thompson-Area 27. Also present at the meeting was Drew Thompson, Fireworks Display director.
Committee Reports:
Treasurer’s Report-Trent Bradshaw gave the following report.
- Trent reviewed the balance sheet and income statement through September 30, 2020.
- Anyone interested in a copy of these documents should contact Trent at trent_m_bradshaw@yahoo.com.
Membership Report–Stacy Jolley & Randy Mohr gave the following report.
- The 2021 HOHA membership letter is out to all residents.
- There was discussion on how to enter home renters into the database. The database is current not set up to enter these individuals effectively. This issue will be addressed in the future.
- There was discussion on establishing an on-line account so residents could pay their dues on the internet. Trent Bradshaw will look into the different options available.
- There will be a “Dues Drive Thru” on Sunday, October 25 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed to work an hour shift.
- Residents were given the option of paying two years of dues. This is a new feature this year.
- A drop-off site/container for dues will be at the Annual HOHA Fireworks Display on October 24.
Nominating Report-The following report was given.
- A new candidate for Citizens Patrol chairperson has come forward.
- Several residents have also indicated they are interested in working on the Annual HOHA Family Picnic.
- A candidate for Webmaster has also come forward.
Parks Report–Jim Grabenbauer gave the following report.
- The second Pet Waste Station has been installed in the parks.
- Several members of UNO’s ROTC worked in the parks weeding and spreading mulch on September 19.
- The light bulbs in the entrance island signs have been replaced, and more energy efficient bulbs installed.
- The Holiday lights, on the entrance islands, will be put up on Saturday, October 17, at 10:00 a.m. Volunteers are needed to help with this task.
- Because of the extremely dry conditions, all the newly planted trees in the parks have had to be watered almost daily.
- The entrance islands will be lit up for the HOHA Fireworks Display on Saturday, October 24.
Newsletter Report-Christina Muska wasn’t present to give a report.
- The newsletter deadline for the December/January issue is November 15.
Webpage Report-Ashley Podwinski gave the following report.
- The October/November newsletter will be sent out to residents soon.
- The webpage has under gone some changes for a more updated look.
Advertising Report-Kevin Hughes and Denny Schaeppi gave the following report.
- There were three new ads in the newsletter and one renewal.
- This committee has almost made their 2020/21 budgeted amount.
Guidelines Issues-John Brehmer wasn’t present to give a report.
Citizens Patrol Report–Rudy Padilla wasn’t present to give a report.
- A candidate has come forward and is interested in this being chairperson.
- All patrollers will be e-mailed to see if they would like to start patrolling again.
Social Committee Report-Drew Thompson gave the following report.
- The Annual HOHA Fireworks Display will be Saturday, October 24, at 8:00 p.m.
- The flat section at the top of the hill in the north park will be looked at as a possible launching site.
- A DJ has been arranged for the event.
- Food trucks will be at the event from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
- All permits for the event have been obtained.
- Everyone will be asked to ‘Social Distance’ at the event.
- Containers for donations will be made available again this year.
- The Fireworks Clean-up day is Sunday, October 25, at 10:00 a.m. in the North Park.
- Drew will get a copy of his insurance coverage to Carol Feelhaver for file.
- Drew was thanked for his continual work trying to get this event to happen.
Ball Field Report-Kevin Hughes gave the following report.
- The weeds on the ball diamond have been sprayed.
- In the spring, a load of special soil will be hauled in and worked into the diamond for a better surface.
Old Business:
- There were two homes that changed hands during September in Harvey Oaks.
- If any current HOHA member was missed and didn’t receive their copy of the 2020 HOHA Directory, they can contact Carol Feelhaver.
New Business:
- Volunteers will be needed to watch the donation and dues drop off site (s) at the Fireworks Display.
- The membership committee was thanked for their work getting the membership material for 2021.
Announcements:
- Randy Mohr, Stacey Jolley, and Becky Tines were thanked for their work on the membership committee.
- Denny Schaeppi was thanked for his work getting new advertisers for the newsletter.
- Drew Thompson was thanked for all his efforts getting the Fireworks Display to happen.
- UNO’s ROTC members were thanked for their work in the parks.
As there was no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m. The next regular meeting is Thursday, November 12, 2020, 7:30 p.m. method or place to be determined.

2021 Meeting Schedule
There is no December, 2020 meeting.
Meetings for 2021 are as follows on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. January 14, February 11, March 11, April 8, May 13, June 10, July 8, August 12, September 9, October 14, November 11. There is no December meeting. The method or location of these meetings will be announced at a later date.
