Harvey Oaks Homeowners Association (HOHA) General Membership Meeting
Thursday, March 12, 2020 7:30 p.m.

The meeting was called to order by Derek Menke, president.
Officers, Committee members, and Area Representatives present at the meeting were: John Brehmer-Area 17/Guideline/Nominating, Carol Feelhaver-Secretary/Social/Nominating, Jim Grabenbauer-Parks, Kevin Hughes-Advertising/Ball diamond, Randy Mohr-Membership, Rudy Padilla-Citizen Patrol, and Denny Schaeppi-Advertising/Social.
Committee Reports:
Treasurer’s Report-Trent Bradshaw submitted the following report.
- Trent submitted a balance sheet and income statement through February 29, 2020.

Membership Report–Randy Mohr gave the following report.
- There are 376 current Harvey Oaks households that have paid 2020 dues. This is out of 779 total homes.
Nominating Report-Carol Feelhaver gave the following report.
- A volunteer is needed to fill the position of Citizen Patrol Chairperson. The current chairman has asked to be released from this position.
Parks Report–Jim Grabenbauer gave the following report.
- The Holiday lights project has raised $2,600.00 allowing the committee to decorate additional trees.
- Dead or diseased pine and ash trees will be removed by the City of Omaha (City) from the center park.
- Teams of entrance island clean-up and maintenance volunteers are needed for all three islands.
- Dog waste containers are being priced for possible inclusion in the parks.
- Jim, Tom Helm, and Barb Velinsky were thanked for their efforts on the Holiday light project.
Newsletter Report-Traci Selby wasn’t present to give a report.
- The newsletter deadline for the April/May issue is March 15.
Webpage Report-There was no one present to give a report.
Advertising Report-Denny Schaeppi gave the following report.
- Denny is working on two new ads for the newsletter
Guidelines Issues-John Brehmer gave the following report.
- Concerns regarding two rental homes in Harvey Oaks were discussed. John has contacted the owners and steps have been taken to correct the problems.
- There is a large trailer parked at a home on Arbor Street and the City will be notified about this vehicle.
- The grey house at 15223 Shirley Street has stalled its remodeling and hopefully as the weather gets warmer, progress will continue.
Citizens Patrol Report–Rudy Padilla gave the following report.
- One individual has expressed interest in assuming the position of Citizen Patrol Chairperson. But this person would like to see the Neighborhood Watch program also established in Harvey Oaks. Rudy agreed to contact this person and discuss the issue.
- Neighbors were reminded to make sure their cars are locked when parked outside a garage.
- The patrol bag is misplaced again. Patrollers were asked to look for it.
Social Committee Report-The following report was given.
- The Annual HOHA Family Picnic will be held on Saturday, August 15, 5:30-8:30 p.m. (new time) in the North park.
- Volunteers are badly needed to be part of the Picnic Planning committee. The planning committee meeting dates are listed below. All meetings will be held at Sean O’Casey’s Pub.
- Tuesday, March 24-7:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, April 21-7:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, May 19-7:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, June 9-7:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, July 7-7:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, July 21-7:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, August 11-7:30 p.m.
- The theme of the picnic will be “Growing Up…Harvey Oaks”. Old pictures of the development will be needed for a display. If you have any pictures contact Carol Feelhaver.
- The annual Family Garage Sale will be April 23, 24, & 25. Residents are asked to register for this event by April 15, to be placed on the master list of sales. The resident needs to be a current HOHA member to be part of the event.
- The annual Spring Candy Hunt will be Saturday, April 25, 1:00 p.m. in the South park. Rain date is the 26.
- The Movies in the Park night will be Friday, June 5, at dusk in the North Park. Rain date is June 12.
- Children’s Patriotic Parade will be Saturday, June 27, 11:00 a.m. in the South Park
- The annual HOHA Fireworks display will be Saturday, June 27, at dusk in the North park.
- Fireworks clean-up day will be Sunday, June 28, 10:00 a.m. in the North Park
Ball Field Report-Kevin Hughes gave the following report.
- The re-grading of the practice ball diamond will start as soon as weather permits, with the expected completion date of April 1. A contract has been signed for the work.
- The spring baseball practice reservation schedule is almost full.
- Enough funds have been raised to pay for the improvements to the ball diamond.
Old Business:
- There were two homes that changed hands during February in Harvey Oaks.
- The HOHA directory was discussed. Becky Tines will be contacted and asked to get this project underway. It is part of the membership benefits advertised by HOHA.
- Area Representatives will also be getting a list of individuals in their areas that haven’t paid current dues. Area Representatives will be asked to contact them and ask them to consider joining HOHA. Becky will send out the list.
New Business:
- For some reason, Harvey Oaks wasn’t included as one of the potential sites for a neighborhood clean-up day. Trent Bradshaw has contacted the City to see about getting Harvey Oaks included.
- Children playing unsupervised in the streets and starting fires on sidewalks were discussed. If a resident has a concern about these events, they are asked to contact the parents or the police.
Announcements:
- The next Picnic Planning committee meeting is March 23, 7:30 p.m. at Sean O’Casey’s Pub.
- Tom Helm, Jim Grabenbauer, and Barb Velinsky were thanked for their efforts on the Holiday light project.
- Kevin Hughes was thanked for his work on the ball field renovation project.
- Randy Mohr was thanked for keeping track of the Holiday light and baseball field renovation funds.
As there was no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 8:25 p.m. The next meeting is Thursday, April 9, 2020, 7:30 p.m. at Converge Church (formerly Harvey Oaks Baptist Church).

2020 Meeting Schedule
May 14, June 11, July 9, August 13, September 10, October 8, November 12, there is no December meeting. The meetings are the second Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at Converge Church.
