Harvey Oaks Homeowners Association (HOHA) General Membership Meeting

The meeting was called to order by Derek Menke, President.
Officers, Committee members, and Area Representatives present at the meeting were: Trent Bradshaw-Treasurer/Clean-Up Day Chairman, John Brehmer-Area 17/Guideline, Tom Davies-Area 8/Social, Carol Feelhaver-Secretary/Social, Jim Grabenbauer-Parks, Tom Helm-Parks, Kevin Hughes-Advertising/Ball field, Corey and Ashley Podwinski-Vice-President/Webpage content, Denny Schaeppi-Advertising/Social, Traci Selby-Area 25/Webpage content, Thom Sisson-Webmaster, Ken Stevens-Parks, and Donna Thompson-Area 27.
Committee Reports:
Treasurer’s Report-Trent Bradshaw gave the following report.
- Trent submitted a balance sheet and income statement through August 31, 2019. Anyone interested in a copy of these documents should contact Trent at trent_m_bradshaw@yahoo.com.
Membership Report–The following report was given.
- There are 457current HOHA household members. This is out of 779 houses.
- There are 88 households that have pre-paid 2020 dues.
Nominating Report-Carol Feelhaver gave the following report.
- An Area Representative for Area 18 is needed. (last two Circles in Harvey Oaks)
- A volunteer for Garage Sale chairperson is needed, also.
Parks Report–Ken Stevens gave the following report.
- Jim Grabenbauer and Tom Helm will be taking over this committee effective September 19, 2020.
- Ken and Rhonda Stevens will be moving from Harvey Oaks on September 19. Ken was thanked for his many years of service to HOHA.
Newsletter Report-Christina Muska wasn’t present to give a report.
- The newsletter deadline for the October/November newsletter is September 15.
Webpage Report-Thom Sisson gave the following report.
- A Webpage committee has been formed. Each member will be given specific tasks, and this will spread out the work considerably. The new committee consists of the following.
Ashley Hineline, Ashley Podwinski, Traci Selby, and Shane Sullivan-advisor.
Advertising Report-Denny Schaeppi gave the following report.
- Denny will start looking for directory advertising. Anyone interested or has the names of someone who might be interested can contact Denny Schaeppi.
Guidelines Issues-John Brehmer gave the following report.
- The home at 15223 Shirley has been sold for back taxes and will probably be “flipped” and sold.
- John Brehmer was thanked for his time and effort keeping the house looking great from the outside.
Citizens Patrol Report–Rudy Padilla gave the following report.
- One Citizens Patrol bag is missing and patrollers were asked to look and see if they might have it.
- It was suggested more communication needs to be implemented to the Patrollers.
Social Committee Report-The following report was given.
- The annual HOHA Family Picnic was held on August 17, 5:00-8:00 p.m.
- The picnic attendance figures, as of August 18, are listed below.

- A tentative date for the 2020 picnic is Saturday, August 15, 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the North park.
- Several new volunteers will be needed to work on the Picnic Planning committee. Due to personal reasons, there have been resignations.
- The Silent Auction made $2,403.00 in cash. This is $303.00 more than last year.
- Approximately $5,500.00 in donations was obtained from 50 companies for the Silent Auction.
- A check will be written to Youth Emergency Services (YES) for $550.00 from the Silent Auction proceeds.
- The registration fees from the Corn Toss Tournament (approximately $150.00) will also go to YES.
- Denny Schaeppi was also able to get a private donation of $100.00 that will go to YES.
- No suggestions/ideas were given for the decline in attendance at the picnic this year.
- Several suggestions to improve the flow of the picnic were given and will be passed along to the planning committee.
- Denny Schaeppi was thanked for all his work obtaining donations for the Silent Auction.
- The Family Holiday Party will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
- The “Dues Drive-Thru” will be Sunday, October 20, 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Converge Church’s parking lot. This will be another opportunity to pay 2020 HOHA dues.
- Derek Menke and Kevin Hughes volunteered to help with the “Drive-Thru”.
Ball Field Report-Kevin Hughes gave the following report.
- Several residents have volunteered to help resurface/rebuild the practice ball field in the North Park.
- Kevin will implement a fundraising effort to get funds for the necessary landscaping materials needed for this project.
Old Business:
- There were four homes sold in Harvey Oaks during August.
New Business:
- Corey Podwinski and Derek Menke will be developing a three to five year strategic plan for HOHA.
- A Thanksgiving Family Afternoon Football Game will be hosted on November 28 in the North park by the Tesners. Families with the afternoon free are invited to attend.
- Corey Podwinski also suggested HOHA find new ways to engage the neighborhood in activities. This will be included in the strategic plan.
Announcements:
- The Picnic Planning committee members Shane Sullivan-chair, Tom Davies, Carol Feelhaver, Michelle McMorris, and Denny Schaeppi were thanked for all their work and time on the recent picnic.
- Ken Stevens was thanked for all his time working for HOHA and the neighborhood.
- Cub Scout Troop 435 was thanked for their activities at the recent picnic.
- The Millard North Marching Band was thanked for their concerts in the area on September 7.
- Amie Hawk was thanked for her work on the membership and holiday party committees.
- John Brehmer was thanked for his time and effort keeping the house on Shirley Street looking well kept and lived in.
- Denny Schaeppi was thanked for his work on the Silent Auction.
- A thank you note from Paula Eastman was passed around. HOHA sent a thank you gift to Paula.
As there was no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m. The next meeting is Thursday, October 10, 2019, 7:30 p.m. at Converge Church (formerly Harvey Oaks Baptist Church).
