Harvey Oaks Homeowners Association (HOHA) General Membership Meeting
Thursday, May 9, 2019 7:30 p.m.
Converge Church-14515 Harvey Oaks Avenue-Omaha, NE
The meeting was called to order by President Derek Menke.
Officers, Committee members, and Area Representatives present at the meeting were: Paula Eastman-Treasurer, Carol Feelhaver-Secretary/Social, Tim Glover-Nominating, Randy Mohr-Membership, Corey and Ashley Podwinski-Area 8/Webpage Content, Denny Schaeppi-Advertising/Social, Thom Sisson-Webpage, and Ken Stevens-Parks. Also present were Jamison and Amie Hawk-Area 4.
Committee Reports:
Treasurer’s Report-Paula Eastman submitted a financial report including the current balance sheet and income statement through April 30, 2019. Anyone wanting copies of these documents should contact Paula at peastman6923@yahoo.com.
Membership Report–Randy Mohr gave the following report.
- There are 426 current HOHA household members. This is out of 779 houses. Last year, there were 439 household members. This is approximately 55% of the neighborhood.
Nominating Report-Tim Glover gave the following report.
- Jim Mooney has requested the names of all residents in Areas 18 and 25.
- Area Representatives need to be found for these two areas.
Parks Report–Ken Stevens gave the following report.
- Mulch was spread at the 144 Street Island by Ken Stevens and Mike Whetstine.
- Ken cleaned out the drainage area behind the school of trash and debris.
- Konfrst Tree Service has trimmed the trees on the 148 Street Island.
- Mulch has been spread at the 151 Street entrance by Chris Crawford and Steve Hossack.
- Trees have been trimmed and debris cleaned out of the South Park.
- Ken is working with an attorney to review the “hold harmless agreement” so the tennis courts can be repaired after the damage.
- The surface of the tennis court is being inspected for possible problems with the current coating.
Newsletter Report-Christina Muska wasn’t present to give a report.
- The newsletter deadline for the August/September newsletter is July 15.
Webpage Report-Thom Sisson gave the following report
- There currently are no problems on the webpage and things are going well.
Advertising Report-Denny Schaeppi gave the following report.
- Two advertisers have renewed their ads for the newsletter.
Guidelines Issues-John Brehmer wasn’t present to give a report
Citizens Patrol Report–Rudy Padilla wasn’t present to give a report
Social Committee Report-The following report was given.
- The annual Neighborhood Clean-up Day on Saturday April 27 was very successful.
- There were 21 families that registered for the garage sale and were placed on the master list of sales.
- “Movies in the Park” will be Friday, June 7 and Friday, July 19 at dusk in the North Park.
- The annual Fireworks Display will be June 29, at dusk in the North Park. Clean-up is on Sunday, June 30, 10:00 a.m. in the North Park.
- The Children’s Patriotic Parade will be Saturday, June 29, 11:00 a.m. Meet at 151 and Arbor Street.
- The annual HOHA Family Picnic will be August 17, 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Ball Field Report- Kevin Hughes wasn’t present to give a report.
Old Business:
- There were no homes sold in Harvey Oaks during April.
New Business:
- A Harvey Oaks Night at the Observatory Lounge will be looked into to see if this is possible.
- Craig Dulany will be asked what type of help is needed at the June 29 Fireworks Display.
- Sunday, June 30 is clean-up day after the fireworks.
- Volunteers are needed for the Annual HOHA Picnic on August 17.
- Youth Emergency Services (YES) has been selected as HOHA’s designated charity and will receive a percentage of the picnic’s Silent Auction’s income.
Announcements:
- Chris Crawford and Steve Hossack were thanked for spreading mulch at the 151 Street Entrance.
- Konfrst Tree Service was thanked for trimming the trees in the 148 Street Entrance Island at no charge. An ad will appear in the newsletter and on the webpage in exchange for this service.
- Mike Whetstine and Ken Stevens were thanked for spreading mulch in the 144 Street Entrance Island.
- Doug Plagge chaired and Denny Schaeppi co-chaired the recent Neighborhood Clean-up Day and were thanked.
- Kim Sosalla-Bahr was thanked for organizing the metal and electronic recycling at the recent Neighborhood Clean-up Day.
- Mary Padilla was thanked for chairing and organizing the recent Neighborhood Garage Sale.
- Ben Thompson was thanked for printing the master list of sales for the Garage Sale.
- John and Benny Bukowski, Tim Glover, Derek Menke, Joel and Alex Klemm, Bipin Satyal, Bob & Sam Scott,
Bobbi Jo & Xavier Shiu, and Ken Stevens were thanked for helping at the Neighborhood Clean-up Day.
- Paula Eastman, current treasurer, will be moving from Harvey Oaks to the Hansen Lake area. Paula has been treasurer for approximately 9 years. Paula was thanked for her many years of service to HOHA. Paula will be moving at the end of June.
As there was no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 8:25 p.m. The next meeting is Thursday, June 13, 2019, 7:30 p.m. at Converge Church (formerly Harvey Oaks Baptist Church).

2019 Meeting Schedule–The second Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m.
July 11, August 8, September 12, October 10, November 14. There is no December meeting.
