Harvey Oaks Homeowners Association (HOHA) General Membership Meeting

Thursday, April 11, 2019 7:30 p.m.

Converge Church-14515 Harvey Oaks Avenue-Omaha, NE

The meeting was called to order by President Derek Menke.

Officers, Committee members, and Area Representatives present at the meeting were: John Brehmer-Guidelines, Tom Davies-Social, Paula Eastman-Treasurer, Carol Feelhaver-Secretary/Social, Tim Glover-Nominating, Kevin Hughes-Advertising/Ball Fields, Randy Mohr-Membership, Rudy Padilla-Citizens Patrol, Corey and Ashley Podwinski-Area 8/Webpage Content, Denny Schaeppi-Advertising/Social, Ken Stevens-Parks, and Donna Thompson-Area 27.

Committee Reports:

Treasurer’s Report-Paula Eastman submitted a financial report including the current balance sheet and income statement through March 31, 2019.  Anyone wanting copies of these documents should contact Paula at peastman6923@yahoo.com.

Membership ReportRandy Mohr gave the following report.

  • There are 411 current HOHA household members.   This is out of 779 houses.

Nominating Report-Tim Glover gave the following report.

  • There is an opening for an Area Representative in Area 25.

Parks ReportKen Stevens gave the following report.

  • Mike Whetstine is looking into getting some mulch for the 144 Street Island.
  • Steve Hossack has removed some of the debris from the creek bed in the South Park.
  • There are other dead pine trees in the parks.
  • Ken is looking for an attorney to help with the damage settlement on the tennis courts.

Newsletter Report-Christina Muska wasn’t present to give a report.

  • The newsletter deadline for the June/July newsletter is May 15.

Webpage Report-Thom Sisson wasn’t present to give a report.

Advertising Report-Denny Schaeppi gave the following report.

  • There are two new ads in the newsletter.
  • Denny will start looking for Family Picnic Silent Auction donations.
  • Youth Emergency Services (YES) is the charity HOHA will be supporting this year.

Guidelines Issues-John Brehmer stated there was no report.

Citizens Patrol ReportRudy Padilla gave the following report.

  • The missing patrol bag has been found.

Social Committee Report-The following report was given.

  • The annual Neighborhood Clean-up Day will be Saturday April 27, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help with this event.
  • April 25, 26, and 27 are the dates for the annual HOHA Garage Sale. Everyone is asked to register with Mary Padilla.
  • “Movies in the Park” will be Friday, June 7 and Friday, July 19 at dusk in the North Park.
  • The annual Fireworks Display will be June 29, at dusk in the North Park. Clean-up is on Sunday, June 30, 10:00 a.m. in the North Park.
  • The Children’s Patriotic Parade will be Saturday, June 29, 11:00 a.m. Meet at 151 and Arbor Street.
  • The annual HOHA Family Picnic will be August 17, 5:00-8:00 p.m.

Ball Field Report-Kevin Hughes gave the following report.

  • The ball field has been dragged for a better playing surface.
  • Kevin has sent out reminders on where to park properly to all coaches using the field.
  • Water drainage continues to be a problem on the ball field.  Possible ways to correct this problem are being researched.

Old Business:

  • There were seven homes sold in Harvey Oaks during March.  All new residents have received HOHA welcome packets.

New Business:

  • Because of lack of participation, the luminary project will be discontinued this year (2019). Discussion followed on the possibility of placing luminaries at the entrance islands and maybe around the parks.  Nothing was decided and this will be discussed at a later date.
  • One hundred and eleven children participated in the Spring Candy Hunt on April 6.

Announcements:

  • Volunteers are needed badly at the Neighborhood Clean-up Day.  Individuals can sign up for 90 minute shifts by contacting Doug Plagge.
  • Stacy Jolley and her committee were thanked for all their work and time on the recent Spring Candy Hunt.
  • Carol Feelhaver, Ashley Podwinski, and Thom Sisson were thanked for working check-in at the Candy Hunt.
  • Reva Neal, new Area Representative for Area 6, has contacted all non-joining residents in her area.

As there was no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 8:38 p.m.  The next meeting is Thursday, May 9, 2019, 7:30 p.m. at Converge Church (formerly Harvey Oaks Baptist Church).

There is no December meeting.
