Harvey Oaks Homeowners Association (HOHA) General Membership Meeting

Thursday, March 14, 2019 7:30 p.m.

Converge Church-14515 Harvey Oaks Avenue-Omaha, NE

The meeting was called to order by President Derek Menke.

Officers, Committee members, and Area Representatives present at the meeting were: Paula Eastman-Treasurer, Carol Feelhaver-Secretary/Social, Tim Glover-Nominating, Kevin Hughes-Advertising/Parks, Randy Mohr-Membership, Corey and Ashley Podwinski-Area 8/Webpage Content, Denny Schaeppi-Advertising/Social, Thom Sisson-Webmaster, Ken Stevens-Parks, and Donna Thompson-Area 27.

Committee Reports:

Treasurer’s Report-Paula Eastman submitted a financial report including the current balance sheet and income statement through February 28, 2019.  Anyone wanting copies of these documents should contact Paula at peastman6923@yahoo.com.

Membership ReportRandy Mohr gave the following report.

  • There are 408 current HOHA members.   This is out of 779 houses.

Nominating Report-Tim Glover stated there was no report.

Parks ReportKen Stevens gave the following report.

  • Contracts have been placed with different companies for the trimming (148 entrance) and spraying of all the entrance island trees.
  • Ken did some research on the cost of an insurance waiver for the picnic.  HOHA’s original policy no longer covers activities at the picnic.   The cost of the waiver is $668.00.

Newsletter Report-Christina Muska wasn’t present to give a report.

  • The newsletter deadline for the June/July newsletter is May 15.

Webpage Report-Thom Sisson gave the following report.

  • All is going well with the webpage.

Advertising Report-Denny Schaeppi gave the following report.

  • There are 20 ads in the newsletter.
  • He will start looking for more ads as he asks for donations to the Silent Auction for the picnic.

Guidelines Issues-John Brehmer wasn’t present to give a report.

Citizens Patrol ReportRudy Padilla wasn’t present to give a report.

Social Committee Report-The following report was given.

  • April 6 will be the annual Spring Candy Hunt in the South Park. The event starts at 1:00 p.m.
  • April 25, 26, and 27 are the dates for the annual HOHA Garage Sale. Everyone is asked to register with Mary Padilla.  A wrong telephone number for Mary appeared in the last newsletter.  The correct number is 402-880-5507.
  • The annual Fireworks Display will be June 29, at dusk in the North Park. Clean-up is on June 30, 10:00 a.m. in the North Park.
  • The Children’s Patriotic Parade will be Saturday, June 29, 11:00 a.m. Meet at 151 and Arbor Street.
  • The annual HOHA Family Picnic will be August 17.
  • The first planning committee is Tuesday, March 19, 7:00 p.m. Anyone interested in serving on this committee is welcome to attend.
  • Shane Sullivan is looking into a mini-fundraiser for the event to help with the cost of the insurance waiver.
  • Shane is also looking for a theme for the event.

Ball Field Report-Kevin Hughes gave the following report.

  • Kevin is taking bids for grading the diamond’s surface.
  • There are still some practice times left for the North diamond.  If you are interested contact Kevin.

Old Business:

  • There were five homes sold in Harvey Oaks during February.  All new residents have received HOHA welcome packets.

New Business:

  • Paula Eastman, current treasurer, will be moving from Harvey Oaks to the Hansen Lake area. Paula has been HOHA treasurer for approximately 9 years.  Thom Sisson has agreed to take on the position of treasurer.
  • One bag with supplies for the Citizen Patrol is missing. All patrollers were asked to check their homes for the bag and return it to Rudy Padilla.
  • The 2019 HOHA Directory is in the process of being printed. It should be mailed to residents by the end of March.
  • Doug Plagge has agreed to chair the Annual Clean-up Day for this year. Denny Schaeppi will assist Doug.

Announcements:

  • Paula Eastman was thanked for her years of service to HOHA.  She stated she enjoyed her position as treasurer and will miss the residents of Harvey Oaks.  Considering this statement, it is no surprise Paula has volunteered to be treasurer for the Hansen Lake Homeowners Association.
  • Carol Feelhaver, Randy Mohr, Joe Sernett, Thom Sisson, and Becky Tines all helped get the 2019 directory put together.
  • Ken Steven was thanked for all his time getting the entrance islands the proper care they needed.

As there was no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.  The next meeting is Thursday, April 11, 2019, 7:30 p.m. at Converge Church (formerly Harvey Oaks Baptist Church).

There is no December meeting.
