Harvey Oaks Homeowners Association (HOHA) General Membership Meeting
Thursday, February 11, 2021 7:30 p.m. Zoom Meeting-Omaha, NE
The meeting was called to order by Derek Menke, president.
Officers, Committee members, and Area Representatives present at the meeting were: Trent Bradshaw-Treasurer/Clean Up Day, Ashley Doherty-Webmaster, Carol Feelhaver-Secretary/Social/Nominating, Sandi Fravel-Area 6, Jim Grabenbauer-Parks, Stacy Jolley-Membership/Social/Area 26, Randy Mohr-Membership, Ashley Podwinski-Webpage content manager, Corey Podwinski Vice President, Denny Schaeppi-Advertising/Social, and Jonie Ternes-Citizens Patrol.
Committee Reports:
Treasurer’s Report-Trent Bradshaw gave the following report.
- Trent reviewed the balance sheet and income statement through January 31, 2021.
- Anyone interested in a copy of these documents should contact Trent at trent_m_bradshaw@yahoo.com.
Membership Report–Randy Mohr gave the following report.
- There are currently 391 HOHA household members for 2021. There were 355 members at this time during 2020.
- All Area Representatives have been contacted and asked to do follow-up contacts with all non-joining residents in their areas.
- All Area Representatives, as they go door to door collecting dues, are asked to wear a badge identifying them.
- Area Representatives will receive a reminder e-mail about canvassing their Areas and the directory deadline.
- The directory will go to the printer by February 28.
- There will be a spring membership drive in April. The exact date hasn’t been scheduled.
Nominating Report-Carol Feelhaver gave the following report.
- There are currently openings for volunteers in the following areas.
- Holiday Party or Parade 2021 Chair
- The Children’s Play Group Chair
- Movie in the Park Night Chair
- HOHA Family Picnic planning committee
- Area Representative for Area 9. This includes 14712 thru 14893 on Harvey Oaks Avenue and all of Francis Circle.
- Anyone interested, is asked to contact Carol Feelhaver.
Parks Report–Jim Grabenbauer and Tom Helm gave the following report.
- The holiday lights will be taken down on the entrance islands when weather permits.
- A Sign-Up Genius is being developed, allowing residents to sign up for the Annual Park’s Spring Clean-Up at a time that is convenient for them.
- The ash tree, in the island at 144 and Harvey Oaks Avenue, will be sprayed for Emerald Ash Bores.
Newsletter Report-Christina Muska wasn’t present to give a report.
- The newsletter deadline for the April/May issue is March 15.
- The February/March newsletter will be sent out soon.
Webpage Report-Ashley Doherty gave the following report.
- Final testing of the new website is almost concluded.
- The new webpage will be a lot more user friendly allowing members faster access.
Advertising Report-Denny Schaeppi gave the following report.
- There are several new advertisers interested in advertising in the newsletter.
- Renewals from current advertisers keep coming in.
Guidelines Issues-John Brehmer stated there was no report.
Citizens Patrol Report–Jonie Ternes gave the following report.
- Several of the patrolling teams are family members, and they will be asked to start patrolling soon.
- The Citizens Patrol hopes to be up and operating by spring.
- There is $503.73 in funds available for the Patrol.
- Jonie has signed up for all new director meetings, but everything is currently on hold because of the virus.
Social Committee Report-The following report was given.
- The first meeting of the Picnic Planning committee will be Tuesday, March 9, 7:00 p.m. This will be a Zoom meeting.
- Volunteers are needed to work on this committee. If the event is to be held this year, many features need to be tweaked to meet health and safety regulations. If you are interested in helping, contact Carol Feelhaver.
- The Annual Garage Sale will be held on April 29, 30, & May 1. Any current HOHA member interested in participating needs to register with Mary Padilla. If there is enough interest, the event will be scheduled.
- The annual Fireworks Display will be Saturday, June 26, and will include the addition of food trucks.
- There was discussion about doing a fundraising drive for the fireworks display. Drew Thompson, event coordinator, is already thinking about ways to make the display bigger and better.
- Denny Schaeppi will be contacting several advertisers to see if they would be interested in financially sponsoring this display. There will be special “perks” developed for advertisers if they are interested.
Ball Field Report-Kevin Hughes wasn’t present to give a report.
- Ball field reservations, for spring practice, have started.
Old Business:
- There were four homes that changed hands during January in Harvey Oaks.
- Jim Grabenbauer is still looking for older pictures of Harvey Oaks for the “Growing Up Harvey Oaks” project.
New Business:
- There was discussion about having the HOHA directory on line, virus a paper copy. With the new website, this will be very easy to do, and can be accessed by current HOHA members only.
- The 2021 directory will be a paper copy. The 2022 directory will be on line, but residents can ask for a paper copy.
- The current advertisers, in the directory, will be asked if they are ok with this change.
- The parking situation at the home at 14733 Arbor Street continues to be a problem. This is a rental home with multiple individuals living in the home. The Mayor’s Hotline has been called.
Announcements:
- Anyone that would like to report neighborhood problems should call the Mayor’s Hotline, 444-5555 or 444-4919 snow removal complaints.
- Joe and Jessica Casper were thanked for their service as Area Representatives in Area 9.
As there was no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m. The next regular meeting is Thursday, March 11, 2021, 7:30 p.m. method or place to be determined.

2021 Meeting Schedule
Meetings for 2021 are as follows on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. April 8, May 13, June 10, July 8, August 12, September 9, October 14, November 11. There is no December meeting. The method or location of these meetings will be announced at a later date.
