Harvey Oaks Homeowners Association (HOHA) General Membership Meeting

Thursday, February 9, 2023-7:30 p.m. 

Sean O’Casey’s Pub-2523 South 140 Avenue-Omaha, NE 

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Trent Bradshaw, treasurer. Corey Podwinski, president, was unable to be present.  

Officers, Committee members, and Area Representatives present at the meeting were: John Brehmer-Guidelines/Area 17, Warren Curry-Newsletter/Area 9, Carol Feelhaver-Secretary/Social/Nominating/Welcome, Kevin Hughes-Advertising/Ball Fields, Lacey Ruffino-Garage Sale, Denny Schaeppi-Advertising/Social, and Traci Selby-Membership/Area 25.  

Committee Reports:

Treasurer’s Report-Trent Bradshaw gave the following report.  

• Trent presented the financial statements through January 31, 2023.
• Anyone interested in a copy of this report should contact Trent at trent_m_bradshaw@yahoo.com.

Membership Report-Traci Selby gave the following report.

• There are 189 resident households that have joined HOHA for 2023.  This is out of 779 homes or approximately 24%.
• A follow-up letter to all non-joining residents (590) is at the printers.  An e-mail blast to non-joining members was also sent out.
• Refrigerator magnets, with the dates of HOHA functions, will be distributed to all current members.  

Nominating Report–The following report was given.  

•  Volunteers to be part of the Winter Festivities planning committee are needed.

Parks Report–No one was present to give a report.

• The entrance Holiday Lights will be taken down on Saturday, February 11, at 1:00 p.m.  Everyone is meeting at Converge Church.  

Newsletter Report-Warren Curry gave the following report.

• The deadline for the April/May issue of the newsletter is March 15.

Webpage/Social Media Report–No one was present to give a report.

Advertising Report-Denny Schaeppi gave the following report. .

• Invoices to current newsletter advertisers are being sent out.  

Guidelines Issues-John Brehmer stated there was no report.  

Citizens Patrol Report–Joni Ternes wasn’t present to give a report. 

• Volunteers are needed to be patrollers.  Anyone interested can contact Joni Ternes. (J_ternes1@yahoo.com)

Social Committee Report-The following report(s) were given.

• The Spring Candy Hunt will be Saturday, April 15, 1:00 p.m. in the South park.
• The Annual Neighborhood Garage Sale will be April 27, 28, & 29.  Contact Lacey Ruffino for more information.
• The Annual HOHA Golf Classic will be Sunday, May 21, with a shot gun start at 8:00 a.m.
• The date of the Neighborhood Clean-Up Day hasn’t been assigned yet by the City of Omaha (City).

Ball field Committee-Kevin Hughes gave the following report.  

• Spring baseball reservations for the practice ball diamond are underway.  There are a few opening for reservation times left.
• Invoices will be going out to participating teams.  

Old Business:

• The Harvey Oaks Golf Classic will be held on Sunday, May 21, 8:00 a.m.  Currently, the planning committee is looking for sponsors for these various levels.
  • Corporate Sponsor-$750.00-Dawn Crenshaw-filled
  • Beverage Cart Sponsor-$500.00-The Observatory-filled
  • Clubhouse Sponsor-$500.00
  • Individual golf hole sponsor-$200.00 (18 needed)
  • Raffle prizes of any value
• The corporate sponsor will be given the additional ‘perk’ of a free foursome at the event.  Anyone interested can contact Denny Schaeppi at dcschappi3@gmail.com. Proceeds from the event will be used to continue renovations of the entrance islands.
• There was one home that changed hands in Harvey Oaks during January.  

New Business:

• A four story apartment building is under consideration on the land located behind Clarke Stevens’ current building, at 14441 Dupont Circle.  Homeowners backing up to this area have been contacted about the proposed project.  A meeting has been scheduled on February 27 to discuss this project.  This land is currently zoned commercial.  HOHA will stay current on this project and report back to residents.  

Announcements:

• Registration for the Garage Sale is April 15.  Contact Lacy Ruffino if you are interested.  Laceya1016@gmail.com.  

As there was no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.  The next regular meeting is Thursday, March 9, 2023, 7:30 p.m. at Sean O’Casey’s Pub, 2523 South 140 Avenue, in the back party room. 

2023 HOHA Meeting Schedule-Second Thursday of each month-7:30 p.m.

April 13, May 11, June 8, July 13, August 10, September 14, October 12, November 9.  There is no December meeting.
