Harvey Oaks Homeowners Association (HOHA) General Membership Meeting

Thursday, February 8, 2024-7:30 p.m.

The meeting was called to order at 7:31 p.m. by Luke Hawkins, President.

Officers, Committee members, and Area Representatives present at the meeting were: Trent Bradshaw-Treasurer/Golf Classic, John Brehmer-Guidelines/Area 17/Neighborhood Clean-Up, Warren Curry-Newsletter/Area 9, Ashley Doherty-Webpage, Carol Feelhaver-Secretary/Social/Nominating/Welcome, Tim Glover-Nominating, Tom Helm-Parks, Kelly Jefferson-Social Media, Lacey Ruffino-Garage Sale/Family Holiday Party, Denny Schaeppi-Advertising/Social/Golf Classic, and Traci Selby-Membership/Social/Area 24.

Special guests include: Thad &Amber Castillo-Area 9, Jim Fitzsimmons-Area 21, Zach & Neidy Hess-Area 12, and Dave and Kristi Price-Area 20.

Committee Reports:

Nominating-the following report was given.

  • HOHA has opening in the following areas:
  • Vice President,
  • Treasurer, 
  • Citizens Patrol.

There are opening for volunteers on the Parks, End of Summer Bash/Picnic (EOSB/Picnic), Nominating, Fireworks Display, and Golf Classic committees.  

Membership ReportTraci Selby gave the following report.

  • There are 286 households that are members of HOHA for 2024.  This is 36% of the homes in Harvey Oaks.  There were 189 members in 2023.

Parks ReportTom Helm gave the following report.

  • The entrance island holiday lights will be taken down and stored.  
  • John Brehmer, Tom Helm, and Bob Scott will serve on a committee to finalize the renovations of the entrance island at 144 and Harvey Oaks Avenue.  A report will be given at the March meeting.  

Newsletter Report-Warren Curry gave the following report.  

  • The deadline for the April/May newsletter is March 15.  
  • The February/March newsletter will be electronically sent on Friday, February 9, and mailed shortly after this date to members requesting printed copies.  

Webpage/Social Media Report-Ashley Doherty gave the following report.

  • A registration form to be part of the upcoming Neighborhood Garage Sale is posted on the webpage.
  • Kelly Jefferson will be the new Social Media chairperson.  

Advertising Report-Denny Schaeppi gave the following report.

  • Jim Small will be taking over the advertising of the newsletter as of March 1.
  • There have been two new ads sold, and several renewals.

Guidelines Issues-John Brehmer stated there was no report.

Citizens Patrol Reportthe following report was given.

  • A chairperson for the Citizens Patrol is needed.  Anyone interested can contact Luke Hawkins. (lucashawkins@gmail.com)

Social Committee Report-The following reports were given.

  • The HOHA Spring Candy Hunt will be Saturday, April 20, 1:00 p.m. in the South and Middle parks at 151 and Arbor Street.
  • New this year, Arbor Street will be closed from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. for the safety of the children.
  • The Annual Neighborhood Garage Sale is April 25, 26, & 27.  To register for this event, contact Lacey Ruffino.  Mike Tesner has agreed to print the master list of sales for the event. 
  • The 2024 Harvey Oaks Golf Classic will be Sunday, May 19, with an 8:00 a.m. shot gun start.  Sponsors for the event are being sought. 
  • The Children’s Patriotic Parade will be Saturday, June 22, 11:00 a.m. in the middle park.
  • The 2024 Fireworks Display will be Saturday, June 22, at dusk in the North park.  
  • The 2024 EOSB/picnic will be Saturday, August 10, 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the North park.  

Neighborhood Clean-Upthe following report was given.  

  • There will be a fall 2024, clean up event.  More information will be coming.
  • There will be no spring 2024, clean up event in Harvey Oaks.  

Ball field CommitteeKevin Hughes wasn’t present to give a report.

  • The spring reservation schedule will start in February of 2024.  

Treasurer’s Report-Trent Bradshaw gave a report.  

  • Anyone interested in a copy of this financial report through January 31, 2024 should contact Trent at trent_m_bradshaw@yahoo.com.

Old Business:

  • There were 34 homes that changed hands in Harvey Oaks in 2023.
  • 27-were sales to individuals,
  • 5-were sold to management companies,
  • 2-were previous flips converted to single family homes.
  • This is approximately 4% of the homes in Harvey Oaks had real estate transfers.
  • There were 103 adults and children that attended the Family Holiday Party.  

New Business:

  • The EOSB/picnic planning committee will hold its first meeting on Tuesday, April 9, 7:30 p.m. at the home of Carol Feelhaver.  There is a need for someone to assist with children’s activities.  Any interested individual is welcome to attend.  

Announcements

  • Committees are starting to form for the 2024 events.  A list of openings will be posted on the web page.

As there was no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 8:12 p.m. by HOHA President, Luke Hawkins.  The next regular meeting is Thursday, March 14, 2024, 7:30 p.m. at Sean O’Casey’s Pub, 2523 South 140 Avenue, in the back party room. 

2024 HOHA Meeting Schedule-Second Thursday of each month-7:30 p.m.

April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11, August 8, September 12, October 10, November 14.  There is no December meeting.
