Harvey Oaks Homeowners Association (HOHA) General Membership Meeting

Thursday, November 14, 2019 7:30 p.m.

Converge Church-14515 Harvey Oaks Avenue-Omaha, NE

The meeting was called to order by Derek Menke, President.

Officers, Committee members, and Area Representatives present at the meeting were: Trent Bradshaw-Treasurer/Clean-Up Day Chairman, John Brehmer-Area 17/Guideline, Carol Feelhaver-Secretary/Social, Tom Helm-Parks, Kevin Hughes-Advertising/Ball field, Randy Mohr-Membership, Jim Mooney-Nominating, Traci Selby-Webpage Content/Area 26, Thom Sisson-Webmaster, and Donna Thompson-Area 27.

Committee Reports:

Treasurer’s Report-Trent Bradshaw gave the following report.

  • Trent submitted a balance sheet and income statement through October 30, 2019.
  • Trent also presented the 2019-2020 budget.  The suggested changes were made to the document.
  • Anyone interested in a copy of these documents should contact Trent at trent_m_bradshaw@yahoo.com.

Membership ReportRandy Mohr submitted the following report.

  • There are 296 current HOHA households that have paid 2020 dues.  This is out of 779 total homes.
  • The “Dues Drive-Thru” collected 20 memberships on Sunday, October 20.

Nominating Report-Jim Mooney gave the following report.

  • A volunteer for Garage Sale chairperson is needed.

Parks ReportTom Helm gave the following report.

  • The holiday lights are being put up on the entrance islands.

Newsletter Report-Christina Muska wasn’t present to give a report.

  • The newsletter deadline for the February/March issue is January 15.

Webpage Report-Thom Sisson gave the following report.

  • The Webpage is operating smoothly.
  • Some updating on the webpage will take place to make the webpage more user friendly.

Advertising Report-Kevin Hughes gave the following report.

  • There were eight renewal ads and two new ads for the newsletter.
  • It has been difficult to obtain advertising for the directory.  There may not be any advertising this year.

Guidelines Issues-John Brehmer stated there was no report.

Citizens Patrol ReportRudy Padilla wasn’t present to give a report.

Social Committee Report-The following report was given.

  • The Family Holiday Party will be Sunday, December 1, 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Converge Church.
  • The date for the 2020 Family Picnic is Saturday, August 15, 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the North park.
  • Several new volunteers will be needed to work on the Picnic planning committee.

Ball Field Report-Kevin Hughes gave the following report.

  • Residents, Dan Fisher and Bob Scott, have agreed to resurface the practice ball diamond.
  • Work will start very soon on this project. The estimated cost of resurfacing the diamond is approximately $1,500.00.
  • Kevin has implemented a fundraising effort to get funds for the necessary landscaping materials needed for this project.

Old Business:

  • There were seven homes sold in Harvey Oaks during October.

New Business:

  • A motion was made by Jim Mooney to accept the 2019-20 budget as presented.  Thom Sisson seconded the motion and the motion was carried.  .
  • Area Representatives will be asked to make follow-up calls to all households not joining HOHA.  Membership lists will be made available.  It was also suggested a membership table be set up at several community events so resident can pay their dues.  These events could include the Spring Clean-up Day, and the Annual Fireworks display.  Dues are already collected at the Family Holiday Party and the Candy Hunt.
  • A proposed second membership drive will be held in March of 2020.  This event will pick up any new residents or individuals who have forgotten to pay their dues.  It was suggested a postcard be sent to all non-joining residents as a reminder.
  • Discussion was held on developing an ice skating rink in Harvey Oaks.  John Brehmer reported, from past experience, this is a time limited project and not often successful.  The ice skating rink has been tabled.
  • Discussion was held on placing the HOHA directory on line instead of printing it.  It was decided to do a survey to residents to see how they would prefer to receive this document.  Traci Selby agreed to send out the survey.
  •  On Thursday, December 12, a thank you event for all Officers, Area Representatives and Committee chairmen will be held at the Observatory Bar and Grill, 14525 West Center Road at 7:30 p.m.  HOHA had a very successful year, and would like to say thank you to the individuals responsible.

Announcements:

  • Carol and Rod Feelhaver, Derek Menke, Randy Mohr, Traci Selby, and Becky Tines, were thanked for working the “Dues Drive-Thru” on October 20.
  • Laura Scott and Becky Tines have agreed to serve on the “Yard of the Month” committee.
  • There is no formal meeting in December due to the approaching holidays.  The HOHA thank you event will be held instead.

As there was no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m.  The next meeting is Thursday, January 9, 2020, 7:30 p.m. at Converge Church (formerly Harvey Oaks Baptist Church).

2020 Meeting Schedule

February 13, March 12, April 9, May 14, June 11, July 9, August 13, September 10, October 8, November 12, there is no December meeting.  The meetings are the second Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at Converge Church.
