Harvey Oaks Homeowners Association (HOHA) General Membership Meeting

Thursday, October 10, 2019 7:30 p.m.

Converge Church-14515 Harvey Oaks Avenue-Omaha, NE

The meeting was called to order by Corey Podwinski, Vice-President.

Officers, Committee members, and Area Representatives present at the meeting were: Trent Bradshaw-Treasurer/Clean-Up Day Chairman, John Brehmer-Area 17/Guideline, Carol Feelhaver-Secretary/Social, Tim Glover-Nominating, Kevin Hughes-Advertising/Ball field, Rudy Padilla-Citizens Patrol, Ashley Podwinski-Webpage content, Denny Schaeppi-Advertising/Social, Shane Sullivan-Social, and Thom Sisson-Webmaster.

Committee Reports:

Treasurer’s Report-Trent Bradshaw gave the following report.

  • Trent submitted a balance sheet and income statement through September 30, 2019.
  • Trent also presented the 2019-2020 budget.  A few suggested changes will be made and the document will be voted on at the November meeting.
  • Anyone interested in a copy of these documents should contact Trent at trent_m_bradshaw@yahoo.com.

Membership ReportRandy Mohr submitted the following report.

  • There are 84current HOHA households that have paid 2020 dues.  This is out of 779 total homes.
  • A “Dues Drive-Thru” will be Sunday, October 20, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Converge Church’s parking lot.  This will be another opportunity to pay 2020 HOHA dues.

Nominating Report-Tim Glover gave the following report.

  • Tara Helms has volunteered to be Area Representative for Area 18.
  • A volunteer for Garage Sale chairperson is needed, also.

Parks ReportNo one was present to give a report.

Newsletter Report-Christina Muska wasn’t present to give a report.

  • The newsletter deadline for the December/January issue is November 15.

Webpage Report-Thom Sisson gave the following report.

  • The Webpage is operating smoothly.
  • The hosting fee for the Webpage will be due in March of 2020.

Advertising Report-Denny Schaeppi

  • There are two new ads for the newsletter.
  • Denny will be working on directory adverting.  Anyone interested can contact Denny at sschaeppi@cox.net.
  • Invoices to current advertisers will be sent out.

Guidelines Issues-John Brehmer gave the following report.

  • The home at 15223 Shirley has been sold and work has started on the renovations.

Citizens Patrol ReportRudy Padilla gave the following report.

  • The Patrol is working smoothly.
  • One Citizens Patrol bag is missing and patrollers were asked to look and see if they might have it.

Social Committee Report-The following report was given.

  • The Family Holiday Party will be Sunday, December 1, 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Converge Church.
  • The date for the 2020 Family Picnic is Saturday, August 15, 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the North park.
  • Several new volunteers will be needed to work on the Picnic planning committee.

Ball Field Report-Kevin Hughes gave the following report.

  • Residents, Dan Fisher and Bob Scott, have agreed to resurface the practice ball diamond.
  • Work will start very soon on this project. The estimated cost of resurfacing the diamond is approximately $1500.00.
  • Kevin will implement a fundraising effort to get funds for the necessary landscaping materials needed for this project.

Old Business:

  • There were two homes sold in Harvey Oaks during September.

New Business:

  • Corey Podwinski suggested HOHA consider a Volunteer Recognition event.  This event would be held after the holidays.
  • The 2020 annual membership drive starts soon.  Area Representatives will be asked to make follow-up calls to all households that didn’t join.  Membership lists will be made available
  • A proposed second membership drive will be hosted in March of 2020.  This event will pick up any new residents or individuals that have forgotten to pay their dues.
  • At the November meeting, a collection will be made to thank Ken Stevens for his many years of service to HOHA.

Announcements:

  • Michelle McMorris was thanked for her many years of service as Website Content Manager.
  • Tara Helms was thanked for agreeing to be Area Representative in Area 18.
  • Jim Mooney was thanked for serving as interim Area Director in Area 18

As there was no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 8:43 p.m.  The next meeting is Thursday, November 14, 2019, 7:30 p.m. at Converge Church (formerly Harvey Oaks Baptist Church).

2020 Meeting Schedule

January 9, February 13, March 12, April 9, May 14, June 11, July 9, August 13, September 10, October 8, November 12, there is no December meeting.  The meetings are the second Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at Converge Church.
